HYROX Youngstars Comes to Anaheim

HYROX Youngstars is a race format built for athletes aged 8–15, blending running with strength and coordination exercises adapted from the adult race. In Anaheim it runs on Saturday and Sunday, December 5–6. The useful bit for families: a spectator ticket for HYROX Youngstars Anaheim also gets you into HYROX Anaheim, and vice versa — no need to buy two.

So if you’re racing on the weekend and bringing kids, they can race Youngstars the same weekend, and your supporters only need one spectator ticket to watch both.

Getting There

  • Location: the convention center is on Katella Avenue in the Anaheim Resort District, next to the Disneyland Resort area — so there are plenty of hotels within walking distance.
  • By train: ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center) is the city’s rail hub for Metrolink and Amtrak. From there it’s a short rideshare or local transit connection to the convention center.
  • Driving: use the convention center’s parking structures, and leave extra time — the resort area is busy, especially on weekends.
  • Weather: early December mornings can be cool, but the race is indoors. Bring a layer for the walk in and warm-up.

Eight Weeks to Anaheim

  • Weeks 8–6: build volume — two run + station interval sessions and one longer easy run a week. Add wall balls and lunges under fatigue.
  • Weeks 5–3: race-specific work at goal pace; one full simulation around week 3. Use the pace calculator to set your splits.
  • Week 2: keep some intensity, trim volume.
  • Race week: ease off from Monday, November 30, grab your start time once it’s posted, and use the race day checklist to pack.

For a longer structure, see the 12-week training plan; for pacing strategy, the pacing guide. Loads for your division are in the weights guide, and gear rules in what you can wear in HYROX.

Anaheim or Nashville?

Anaheim is one week before HYROX Nashville (December 9–13). If you’re choosing between them, West Coast athletes save the travel; Nashville gives you an extra week of training and five days of start waves.
